Tugs somehow seem happy little boats, I'm sure there is a childhood character of book or screen I remember - with their snub nosed bows out of the water and ever smoking stack they have always cried out to be anthropomorphized.
They certainly jolly up this snow covered harbour.
Unusually the artist has chosen to paint on the textured side of the hardboard giving the effect of underlying canvas. I'm not usually a fan but it seems to work well here.
