Another Hillgrund - see lot 4 - but this is a rarer subject and a good size, the empty back street in an old town has a timeless quality, a nice bit of painting. The glimpse of blue sky contrasts beautifully with the ancient stones and lichen, the low skyline points to a hilltop - perhaps in Tuscany?
