One of the best known of the Mid-century Swedish painters in the Interior design market today. Lundqvist's paintings are instantly recognisable, semi-abstract and with a distinctive modernist aesthetic, they often sell at auction for well into five figures. This figure in a Nordic village is a nice example, and offered at a low starting price as something of an experiment. I can't decide if she is walking by moonlight or sunlight.

Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989) was Swedish painter, glass designer and sculptor born in Malmö where, in 1946, he studied at the Skåne painting school under the German-Danish artist and sculptor Harald Isenstein. In 1948 he travelled to Paris where he continued his studies under André Lhote and Jean Fautrier.
He travelled across Europe throughout the 1940s and 50s, exhibiting widely. In Sweden he was a member of the Konstnärernas Riksorganisation (Artists' National Organization) and the Skånska Konstnärsklubben (Skane Arts Club).
In 1958, Lundqvist became a designer and artistic advisor at the Trelleborg & Alsterfors Glassworks. Examples of Lundqvist's work can be seen in the Ystad museums. He also worked as a sculptor in metals.
